The Journey Begins

Hello!  My name’s Cali and I’ll be your guide during  this magical journey into Disney movies!  It’s the perfect project for me because I love Disney movies!

I’ve always prided myself on having seen every single Disney animated feature from Snow White to (insert current release here).  But recently, I’ve been thinking… I haven’t seen most of their other input!  So, I’ve made it my mission to go down the list of their Wikipedia page and do just that.  But don’t worry- I fully intend on including the animated ones, too!

I’ll be analyzing each film as I watch them and giving my honest opinions of their cinematography, music, acting, and writing.  I’ll also try to share a little bit of history of each film, doing a little bit of research on each.  Fair warning, though: I’m not the kind of girl to hold back for the sake of being “professional”.   If I like something, I’m going to fangirl hard, and if I don’t, expect a whole lot of sass.

So, is everyone ready?  Great!  Because it’s show time!  Ready when you are, CB!

I'm a sassy snarky salt bucket lucky enough to live in Orlando, Florida. I've had a lifelong interest in the Walt Disney Company and the films and theme park attractions they've created. I've now made it a goal to go down their Wikipedia page and watch every animated AND live action film they've ever made. Can I do it? How many of them will make me go completely mad? Only time will tell....

  1. Glad to find other people going through the Disney films.
A few years ago, I started a blog, My Live Action Disney Project (myliveactiondisneyproject.wordpress.com) wherein I attempted to watch and review all the live-action theatrically-released Disney films (not counting productions like Marvel, Star Wars, or documentaries) ever made. I’m still going at it. Feel free to check it out if you’re interested!

  2. It’s so great seeing another Disney movie blog! I’ve really enjoyed reading your posts. I’ve been doing a similar project at jocelynnielson.com so I wanted to drop a line and say hi. I look forward to your continuing success with this blog!

  3. Another crazy here trying to do the same thing. No blog though but your page popped up when I was looking for the Academy Award Review of Walt Disney Cartoons. 🙂 Look forward to watching and then reading your thoughts!

  4. Hey, didn’t know where to put this, so, the first post seems good:

You say you’re going to review every Disney movie ever. What about the films they didn’t make but own, like The Brave Little Toaster, Anastasia, The Simpsons Movie, Star Wars, Pokémon movies, etc.?

      1. Well, if you decide to do non-Disney stuff, I hope you look at Don Bluth. He made three of my childhood movies: An American Tail, The Land Before Time, and All Dogs Go to Heaven.

  5. I so wish I came across your blog at the beginning of your journey! I’ve embarked and finished my journey into the wonderful world of live-action Disney…stopping in 1986, why? I don’t know…lol. I love your writing style and humorous reviews. Great stuff! My trail of live action has been documented on Instagram via the hashtag #2018disneymoviegoal and my handle in @keepingwaltindisney. I’ll be following along and catching up on all of your wonderful entries!

  7. Hello,

It is always fun reading reviews. It’s always fun to see how people can be similar yet very different in their opinions of movies with me. You haven’t gotten to Beauty and the Beast yet in your reviews I see. It’s my favorite of the Princess Movies for sure. Where does it rank for you??

    1. Thanks for stopping by! Beauty and the Beast is a weird one for me, I personally was never able to get as into it as a lot of other people but that’s more personal preference than anything wrong with the film itself. It’s a very good story and beautifully animated, but it leans a little heavier on the romance than I tend to prefer, compared to the adventure. And you know, it’s not pretending to be anything else, it’s a romance, and it’s a good one! That genre just isn’t my cup of tea. I’m more into the adventure-y princess movies like Tangled (which has a romance in it but is mostly about Rapunzel leaving the tower). But I have a LOT to say about that film even if it’s not my favorite favorite so stay tuned! And to say something positive, the stage version of BatB was the first musical I ever saw live so that means a lot to me ❤

      1. OK. I see what you mean. It’s in the same category that Pinocchio and Mary Poppins are in for you. You made me realize that we must separate our preferences and personal feelings on movies when ranking to make them more accurate.

      2. Exactly! I will never call one of those movies a personal favorite but they’re artistic masterpieces. Not that I’m always /completely/ objective as we’ll see getting into the 90s, but there’s a difference between “bad” and “not my thing”, you know?
